Elliot Long obtain a opportunity to perform at the O2 Arena

And the national finals with Elliot Long wins winning the 2011 British Open Mic, he will obtain the greatest opportunity to perform at the O2 Arena in London.

The 29-year-old singer-songwriter has thousands of players already beaten X Factor style competition and hundreds of people in the regional finals later this month will face.

Ghyll Royd School and former guitar student plays the piano and church organ to play in the Wharfedale Music Festival several years ago.

Pubs in Harrogate now Mr Long performed weekly, nationwide competition will compete in 23 categories.

He said, “My act is very much like the Radio 1 Live Lounge where I take well-known songs new and old and perform my take on them vocally and musically through either piano or guitar”.

“I have been vocally compared to the likes of James Morrison, Ed Sheeran and Kelly Jones (from the Stereophonics). The competition itself is very much like X-Factor but for people who play instruments and write their own material as well.”

Open Mic 2011 searches UK’s best singers, singer/ songwriters, rappers, and vocalists of all genres.

Judge Chris Grayston, of Future Music Management, said: “We are searching for an act whose performance will impress an audience, industry judges and A&R associates, and who has the potential to become a professional recording artist.

“The standard was high last year and this year looks set to be even better.”
