Rihanna's concert at O2 Arena tickets sale on 15th April

Rihanna record-breaking 10th date for her show at London's 02 Arena this year.

The singer for this year's Billboard Awards nominations have top, has announced that additional be playing this year will start.

Tickets go on sale on 15th April at 9am and extra date added is for 20th December.

Rihanna is more than excited about the show, as she tweeted: "10th O2!!!!!! Ok that's it!! I'm packin my s---!!! UK u are pretty MAJAH."

She will perform a new show before just three days on Christmas, on December 22nd

Rihanna Tickets are still available to go on sale only for a new show, but for rest of tour tickets are now available on coming Friday 25th March at 9am.

OAP Sir Paul McCartney rehearses at the O2 Arena and demands his OAP fans all have wheelchair access!

Ancient pop/rock/Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is launching his world tour and is presently rehearsing at the O2 Arena in London.
Tickets have been flying across the counters all over the UK especially when his fans are picking up their OAP benefits.
Instead of buying their weekly rations of bacon, loaf of white and The Sun or Mirror they've been splashing out their pensions on tickets for Sir Paul.
Now, Sir Paul being the charitable guy he is, especially after marrying that one-legged, ex-model who ripped him off for a couple of million, is demanding that all of his geriatric fans in wheelchairs (and that's the majority) have special access to the front of the stage so they can experience "wheelchair crowd-surfing" whilst listening to Paul croning out Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby and that all-time fav, Band on the run (not anymore at his age!).
It promises to be a fantastic evening and geriatrics who can't make the bog in time will be given free incontinent nappies during the show, what a luvely fellow!
Sir Paul has also announced 2 very special guests, Ringo Starr and Mick Jagger singing a new version of that Beatles classic "When I'm 65" now called "When I'm 85" (and still rocking, sad)!!!!!!

Paul McCartney to play The O2 arena in London for the first time.

Following a sellout stadium tour of the US this summer, Paul McCartney today announces his first European Tour since 2004, “Good Evening Europe”. This December will see Macca play seven special arena shows across Europe, culminating with his first ever public performance at The O2 arena in London, which will be his only UK date of this year. Other firsts on this tour will include shows at Berlin’s O2 World venue and Dublin’s The O2. Paul’s legendary live performances are a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience. The audience gets to re-live some of the greatest moments in music from the last 40 years, many of which have become the soundtrack to living.

The O2 arena in London will host Paul’s final show of 2009 where he will bring the year to an end on a high. This will be his ONLY live show in the UK this year! Paul’s last UK show was a massive sellout concert at Anfield Stadium in 2008. At the time the Liverpool Echo wrote, “If Anfield had a roof, Macca would have blown it off.” The O2 arena does have a roof so it’s set to be a massive night of excitement and rock n’ roll Macca style! Although this is Paul’s first public performance at The O2 he is very familiar with the venue. In 2004, before The O2 was up and running as the world’s greatest music venue, Paul used the Millennium Dome (as it was known then) for rehearsals for his massive stadium “04 Summer Tour” which ended with Paul headlining the Glastonbury Festival which has gone down in rock history as the greatest festival moment ever. Although his rehearsals at the Millennium Dome were meant to be top secret, he was soon rumbled when a near by resident complained about the rock n’ roll noise upsetting his cat!

Before Paul reaches The O2 he will be visiting Hamburg, Berlin, Arnhem, Paris, Cologne and Dublin all this December.

Speaking about the tour, Paul said: "This is my chance to bring our current show home to where it all began. Starting in Hamburg, ending in London and rocking everywhere in between. I'm very much looking forward to ending the year on a high."

What a year 2009 has been for Paul. He kicked it off by teaming up with Dave Grohl to perform “I Saw Her Standing There” at the Grammys, where he was also nominated for two awards. In April, Paul performed in New York at the David Lynch Foundation’s benefit concert, “Change Begins Within”. He was joined on stage with Ringo Starr for a special finale. Paul also headlined the Coachella Festival (his first US festival appearance) and performed a show to mark the opening of The New Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, a gig which sold out in seven seconds, setting a new sales record with tickets selling at a rate of 600 a second! July 11th took Paul to Halifax, Nova Scotia for his first ever concert there, which took place on the Halifax Commons. The mayor of Halifax described the show as the largest and most exciting concert in its 260 year history.

Following Halifax, Paul embarked on a five-week tour of the US; ‘Summer Live ‘09’. The tour commenced with the inaugural run of shows at New York’s Citi Field Stadium, which was the site of the former Shea Stadium where The Beatles made history in 1965 when they played a concert that set the precedent for the modern day stadium rock show. Critics hailed the Citi Field performances, seen by over 120,000 people, as the concert experience of a lifetime. The tour concluded in Dallas on the 19th of August.

The O2 arena (London)

The O2 arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located at the centre of The O2, a large entertainment complex on the Greenwich peninsula in south-east London, England. It is the first American style arena in London. With a capacity of upto 20,000 it is one of the largest indoor arenas in Europe

Background

Construction of the arena started in 2003 and finished in 2007. Due to the impossibility of using cranes inside the dome structure the arena's roof was constructed on the ground within the dome and then lifted. The arena building's structure was then built around the roof. The arena building, which houses the arena and the arena concourse, is independent from all other buildings in The O2 and houses all the arena's facilities. The whole arena building takes up 40% of the total dome structure.

Musical events

Anschutz opened The O2 arena on June 23, 2007 with a free event for all of the building's employees payable as The O2 Premiere featuring Peter Kay, Tom Jones, Kaiser Chiefs and Basement Jaxx, with the show hosted by Dermot O'Leary. This was before the official reopening to the public and go before a programme of events set to launch the venue over summer. Snow Patrol then played a gig to an audience made up of sponsors, local residents and local business employees. Bon Jovi played the first open-to-all concert at the arena on June 24, 2007. Sports Events

The first sporting event to take place was the Commonwealth Boxing Lightweight Championships featuring Amir Khan on July 14, 2007. That September it hosted UFC 75: Champion vs. Champion with the main event being UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson vs. PRIDE Light Heavy Weight Champion Dan Henderson, Jackson won the bout by Judge's Unanimous Decision. On March 8 Enzo Maccarinelli and David Haye clashed at the venue for the World Cruiserweight title, Haye won by KO in the second round. The arena has also hosted two National Hockey League contests, which started the 2007-08 NHL season, on 29 and September 30, both involving the Anschutz-owned Los Angeles Kings and their regional rivals from Southern California, the Anaheim Ducks.
